MORE clues leading up to A=Ezra!
Okay, okay, I don’t know for sure if Ezra is A, or if he’s boss/main A, or if he’s just part of the A group but… oh my gosh!
- On the A interview ABC Family released, when A was asked what was he/she up to during his/her free time, A answered “target practice”. On an ep from the first season, Ezra was playing target practice with a friend and Aria in a bar.
- On the Homecoming ep, Spencer talks to the tarot lady. She reads a creepy tarot card, which says “Something wrong with this couple, they are a bad match…. there is darkness in him, maybe even violence and vengeance”. During this scene, the camera shows both Emily and Toby, and Aria and Ezra. We thought that the tarot lady was talking about Toby and that EMily was in danger with him, but now we know Toby is innocent, so which guy’s left…? Ezra.
- Vivian Darkbloom, Ali’s alter ego, is an anagram for Vladimir Nabokov, a russian writer famous for writing the literary masterpiece Lolita. In this book, a 40-something english teacher, Humbert Humbert, falls in love with his 12-yr-old stepdaughter. Ali also borrowed the book from the library, so she has read it, and perhaps wanted to live the “lolita fantasy” with someone… perhaps, Fitzy? Plus, both Ezra and Humbert are english teachers, and the book itself is a literary classic so Ezra would’ve known about it. And Nabokov also has written another book, The Eye… The Vigilant Eye… “We see all”… N.A.T club. Which leads us to the next clue:
- Marlene King has said that there are other members of the N.A.T club. I think it’s Melissa and Fitz. We know both Melissa and Fitz (thanks to the Halloween Episode) were around in Rosewood while Ali was alive.
- No one knows absolutely anything about Ezra’s past, except that he was in Rosewood while Ali lived, he (supposedly) was in Europe for a while, and had a relationship with Jackie. Hm…
- On episode 1x13, Spencer gets an A message that said “Married for love or an alibi?”. Two episodes later, on 1x15, Ezra is sitting on his desk and behind him it’s written: “Married for love?”
- On episode 1x15, “Daisy” is written on the blackboard behind Ezra. On the end of the episode, you can see A putting daisies on Mrs. Potter’s grave.
- On episode 2x20, Byron gets a message from A written on a typewriter. And on the same episode we see Ezra’s phone background image are typewriter letters.
- The girls don’t receive any messages from A while Ezra was in New York, or wherever the hell he really was.
- On episode 1x18 Jenna tells Ezra she’d like to write some music for the play. She probably gave him the machine with the flute music already recorded, so he could perfectly use it to confuse Spencer in the motel on episode 1x19.
- A wrote “NOSEY BITCHES DIE” on Dr. Sullivan’s room. But, it’s not NOSEY, it’s NOSY. Nos E y. E zra. Also ironical, since he’s supposed to be an english teacher…
- During the rehearsals for the play during 1x18, Aria uses a crepe tape to mark places on the floor. On the end of the episode we see A looking at the mice he/she had. Each mice’s cage had a liar’s name written on crepe tape.
- In episode 204, the sign outside of the pawn shop with Dr. Lars Thorwald says “Someone’s watching you…” That is a reference to the Hitchcock film “Rear Window” but reminds me of 1984 and “Big Brother is always watching you.” In episode 19 of season 1, Jenna references that same quote from 1984 to Aria in the bathroom right after Aria sees Jenna talking to Ezra. Possible reference to Ezra being another N.A.T. club member as well as A and seeing all? The eyes on the sign are also zoomed in on. Once again, a nod to eyes (A’s pretty eyes - Ezra has pretty eyes). The poster also almost EXACTLY resembles one for Dr. T.J. Eckleburg in The Great Gatsby, yet another novel Ezra had his class read…and it happens to be by F. Scott FITZgerald.
- On 2x12, Aria gets the papers Jackie copied, from A. Before that, we can see Ezra on his office, reading some papers which are very similar to the ones A gave Aria. They were even stapled on the same side.
- Ezra’s poem said “And in a moment, her life was undone. Everything she knew disappeared, drifting into the summer sky”. Her = Ali. Undone life = death. Also, Ali died in the summer.
- Ezra reacts indifferently to the fact that Aria and the other liars were guilty for blinding Jenna, almost as if he already knew that.
- Teachers get class rosters BEFORE the first day of school. He could have seen her name, acted shocked that she was in his class as an act, and set a text message to send to her very soon after the bell rang.
- May have been at Ali’s memorial. Spencer recieved a text from A saying they’ll be there watching “just like Tom Sawyer.” — it is a reference to a novel, and he is an English teacher.
- As Aria is leaving the coffee shop in the rain, right before Ezra picks her up, a store is shown called “Hardware Keyes.” The “K” is almost entirely cut off by a pole in front of the sign, so it looks more like “eyes.” The song playing in the background is called “Fresh Pair Of Eyes.” These are the first of many nods at eyes pertaining to both Ezra and A.
- As a teacher, he most likely has access to locker combinations. He could have put the A notes in Emily and Hanna’s lockers, the book with his poem and the A note in Aria’s locker, and the test answers in Noel’s locker (especially since he was fully aware that Noel was going to rat him out to the principal).
- The other girls seem to be targeted more than Aria and she has not been in any physical danger yet. A may or may not have been the person who pushed her in episode 202. Mike pushed Aria during his house-breaking-in-escapades, not A. As far as A is concerned, they have not put her in any physical danger yet.
- Also in the season 2 premiere, when Aria is at Ezra’s apartment, he tells her “Ask me anything.” When the girls receive the text from “Ian” (as in, A, or someone else) in the greenhouse, it says “Ask me anything.” Not “Ask something, ask me a question” etc. Coincidence or…?
- He could have taken the picture of his desk missing the degree himself and removed the apartment key from under his mat… to enter his own apartment. Lol.
- His degree was at the therapist’s office. He could have put it there himself, especially if he happens to go to therapy for some reason. Perhaps after Jackie broke off their engagement, or for another reason we don’t know anything about?
- In Ian’s “suicide” note, the word ‘hide’ is crossed off after ‘I can’t” and is replaced by the word ‘run.’ When Aria talked with Ezra about Jenna being in the pottery class, Ezra said “You can run, but you can’t hide.”
- Aria’s doll in episode 212 wants her to “make Jackie go away.” Ezra clearly has no interest in Jackie anymore or doesn’t seem to at least. Makes sense if the doll thing was A’s doing. Mentally torturing Aria by having her confront his ex-fiancee and get her to go away for his own sake.
- His nickname in college was Z. Instead of from A to Z, from Z to A? Interesting coincidence (or not) that it was a single letter…
- The “Ezra is A” April Fools joke could have been the biggest REVERSE red herring ever.
Мэлисса и Рен:
- Melissa has access to the Hasting’s lakehouse.
- She worked at the FWL law firm where A sent Ali a text.
- Torrey DeVitto, who plays Melissa, always plays “psycho” roles.
- Melissa has easy access to Spencer’s computer and phone.
- Melissa lived next door to Ali, could’ve gotten her diaries and stuff and read the Liars’ secrets.
- A said she/he/them has gone to Rosewood High. Melissa went there.
- She lives a few blocks away from Smitty’s in Philadelphia. Smitty’s was the store A had bought a couple magazines from, and left the receipt in the Hasting’s lake house’s attic.
- The writers have said A has been on the show since the pilot. Both Melissa and Wren have been on the show since the pilot.
- A has said that his new year’s resolution is “more cardio”. Spencer has said Melissa is having heart problems.
- A gets a gun from Mr. Hasting’s desk. Who else would know that her dad had a gun, if not Spencer or Melissa?
- A said there was a “thin line between love and hate” for the Liars. Wren has the hots for Spencer.
- The guy who plays Wren was the psycho killer in Sorority Row. Again, typecasting.
- Wren worked on the hospital where Hannah was staying after being ran over by A. He could’ve easily written on her cast.
- On episode 1x11 you see “A” burning a log in a fireplace. The words written on the log were “Ian+Ali”. Now, obviously, Melissa was Ian’s girlfriend back then and now his fiancee. She’d obviously want that tree gone. In the latest episode, 2x22, we see Wren’s apartment, and they randomly kept focusing on his fireplace.
- In season 1, A hid on Spencer’s closet after writing a message on her mirror. How could’ve A gotten into her house so easily? Because A, Melissa, lives on that house.
- And if you think about it, A has only been to Spencer’s house, and to Emily’s once when it was open house.
- Melissa could’ve gotten the girls’ numbers and e-mails from Spencer’s laptop and phone.
- Melissa was at the homecoming. So was A.
- A has often been described to have “pretty eyes”. Wren has average brown eyes, but Melissa has really pretty brown eyes. [edited & fixed, thanks anon]
- A went to Emily’s open house. A realtor wouldn’t sell a house to a teen, right? So whoever A is, at least one person from the A team must look like or be an adult. Melissa and Wren are adults.
- In 2x12 when Spencer gets the box with the dolls, she says it “just appeared” there. Melissa has a house key and would’ve gone unnoticed.
- In the season 1 finale it was Melissa who told Spencer to get her phone back at the church. Ian was there. IT WAS SO PLANNED! Ian said “Melissa would want me to take care of this!” Remember the coffee, Ian and Melissa? And Spencer was in the car crash with Melissa. Spencer should be shakened up too but Melissa didnt care she only want Spencer to go because SHE KNEW Ian was there. And another thing Melissa was in the church earlier, and maybe Ian was there too and they planned it. How would Ian know that Spencer would would go to the church that night? Maybe the accident was planned too. We never saw the driver. Which leads us to:
- Perhaps Ian was Melissa’s -A helper before she killed him, because “he knew too much”? Notice how Ian’s “suicide letter” consists of fragments of stuff -A has sent the girls over the years. T he only 2 other people at the murder scene besides the liars were Melissa and Wren.
- Melissa has a reason to torture the girls: she hated Ali, and she hated Spencer too (for copying her essay, for stealing Wren, and overall sister rivalry). The writers will find another reason to why Melissa hates the other 3 girls.
- Wren and (possibly) Ian were working with Melissa because she’s blackmailing them, or, she made Ian feel guilty about the night of Ali’s murder (making him think she killed her, and in exchange for keeping her mouth shut, Ian would be Melissa’s -A helper), and Wren is just plain psycho, or Melissa’s actual babydaddy.
- A wrote on Dr. Sullivan’s office “Nosey bitches die”. Nosey is the british spelling of the word “Nosy”.
- Wren told Spencer that he needed to have all of his books ordered alphabetically. Then Spencer pointed out Aristoteles was at the bottom of the shelf, meaning, the order was wrong. Now: A -ristoteles. A.
- A had a picture of the girls at the hospital’s morgue, taken from a security camera. Who works in the hospital, and has access to its security camera’s? That’s right, Wren.
- Wren shows up in the bar just as Spencer was about to confront Melissa about being in the video… right. There’s something a little bit suspicious about that.
- A saved Spencer from dying in the church. If Wren likes her a little, he would obviously save her.
- A hates Toby. Toby is Spencer’s boyfriend, and, therefore, Wren’s rival.
- Toby will kiss Spencer in the finale, meaning that Wrencer won’t happen for long, perhaps, because Spencer finds out about Wren=A?
- Also notice how in this promo picture (released by ABC Family) of the “good/hot guys of Rosewood”, Wren doesn’t show up, even though he’s appeared on the show as much times as Jason, and is overall a good character (or so they want us to think) and a love interest to one of the Liars. Just thought it was interesting.
- Marlene said there would be a “creepy shower scene at a creepy motel” [Not the ezria sex scene, it’ll happen in ezra’s apartment. But… wasn’t Wren staying in a motel after he broke up with Melissa, before he got his apartment?]
- On this picture, we see Wren’s stethoscope makes an “A”. Marlene King says that nothing on PLL is un-intentional.
- There is a thing called typecasting. Just like Torrey DeVitto (Melissa) who always plays “psycho” characters, Julian (Wren) is the killer on Sorority Row. Someone you’d least expect.
- Worked in the hospital and could’ve easily put HGH on Emily’s cream.
- In episode 208, Emily gets a message from -A in a tube of paincream, during the hospital. Wren could’ve easily arranged that.
- “A lies a lot.” according to executive producer Marlene King when asked about the birth year of 1994 on the therapist’s form. Wren looks young enough to pass for a teenager, he has a baby face. Also, Marlene said that -A lies a lot so we shouldn’t take the birth year seriously.
- Wren is a good masseuse. In the pilot episode, he gives Spencer a shoulder massage to help her “bursa sac” (lol), and she enjoyed it. In episode 210, A gives Emily a massage that had her convinced it was the masseuse.
- In episode 212, Spencer’s doll says “Keep Toby safe.” In order to keep Toby safe, she had to break up with him. Wren found her almost immediately after and kissed her later on. Something A could have definitely used to their advantage.
The only problem I see in this theory is that Wren wasn’t around in Rosewood when Ali was alive, so he couldn’t have sent her the first, original A messages that targeted Ali. Unless, the original A was Ali’s twin or someone else, and present-day-A is Wren. And why would Wren want to torture the girls?
Simple. Wren is working with Melissa on the A Team. Melissa sent Ali the first A messages. Then, when Melissa and Wren came to Rosewood, they decided to torture the girls.

-A was in Alison’s Funeral: According to the producers of the series, -A was present at the funeral of Alison DiLaurentes. Ezra, our darling and also our suspicion for the villain, appears at the funeral and meets Aria on stairs. Although Ezra was there, supposedly to see Aria, make no mistake, for he continued at the funeral. And even if so, how Ezra knew that Aria knew Alison? Other suspects are Jason and Jenna, also present at the funeral.
The letter sent to Aria’s mom: Ella Montgomery, Aria’s mother, receives a letter of -A, written with a machine type. Later in the same episode, Aria goes to Ezra’s apartment and while waiting, a wonder machine type. When she asks her boyfriend on the machine, he says it’s just a paperweight. Little suspicious?
Hanna figures out a secret…: In the first season, the last episode before the recess, Hanna discovers a secret of -A and so she is hit by a car. Let’s think? Hanna thought that she had discovered that Noel was -A and sent a text message to the other girls. Shortly thereafter, -A sends a message saying: “She Knows too much”. But what Hanna really knew? Hanna saw Ezra and Aria together inside a car…
The black sedan: In the episode in which Hanna is hit, the car that hits her is a black sedan, the same as we saw with Ezra earlier and in other episodes. -A beats in the same car in the episode “Throught Many Dangers, Toils and Snares”, which marked the end of the recess of the season.
Studying abroad? I don’t think so…: According to Ezra, he studied abroad and wasn’t present in Rosewood during the times that Alison was the “Queen” of the halls of Rosewood High. But… If this is true, why Aria coming up on Ezra at the corridors of Hollis, in the Halloween episode? Ezra, with books in hand, face of a student… SUPICIOUS!
A is everywhere: -A is full of scheming and seems to be everywhere! If you stop and look really well, Ezra was in several places too. For being a teacher, he was called for many of the events that the liars was present. In this events -A always did something bad, and Ezra just disappeared.
A lasting relationship: The relationship of Aria and Ezra was, until now, the only enduring in the serie. The two have been together since the first episode and it gives what… 40 episodes? It’s a lot of episodes. But … if Ezra is -A … Why is that? Easy. Ezra need something for cover him up and, if you look well, -A just put the finger in their relationship a fell times (sending those tickets to Ella and that letter to Byron). Beyond that, their relationship was only affected by Aria’s parents.
Aria X Others Guys: Aria approached Jason, and Ezra (and -A) didn’t like that. As soon as Jason begins to approach Aria, Ezra tries to exclude them and what is our explanation for this? Ezra wanted to keep Jason away from Aria for fear the boy to tell him about his “involvement” with Alison. -A also tried to keep the Aria away from Jason, make her think that he had something with Ali’s murder.
Calligraphy: The most interesting of all is the similarity between the handwriting of A and Ezra.
Grammar: “But… -A writes like a girl!” Ezra is a writer, right?
То есть возможно А - это Эзра??)
