I've only read one book in high school so far, No One Hear Gets Out Alive, the biography of Jim Morrison. In 10th grade I discovered The Doors and became a huge fan. The book is so rad. There are crazy stories of Jim fucking random groupies in cheap motels. I liked the one about how once he left Florida for UCLA his family hadn't heard a word from him for nearly two years, until the Doors first record came out. Then Jim's brother recognized his face on the cover of their debut album. That's crazy too. During the summer I went and saw Oliver Stones' movie, The Doors. That got me even more into their music. He died so young, at 27.
This is literally the only book I enjoyed reading in my three and a half years of high school. The only other book I even attempted to read was George Plimpton's Paper Tiger. It was another book I picked out of the library for a 10th grade English assignment, but I didn't get through that one either. Other than that, there was just bits and pieces of reading Shakespeare and Orwell here and there. I don't read and I don't study. I guess that's why I'm flunking out.
