Sometimes, we forget who we are. For a certain time period, there might be days when we are constantly with and encountering people who belittle and demean us, playfully or seriously. And so we forget who we are and we doubt who we are. We succumb to their words (to the words of people who don’t care for us) and we begin to believe whatever they say we are (weird, awkward, dumb, and the list goes on) and our confidence drops off the earth. It is as if the sun has temporarily gone out and we are no longer able to see ourselves in the mirror.
However, there is a beautiful moment. When someone brings you out of that darkness and you begin to see yourself again in the mirror. When someone really shows you who you really are, reminds you who you really are. At that moment, you realize you have forgotten who you really are.
Those type of people are important. Those who show you the real things about yourself, though those real things may not always be pleasant, they bring it out gently and of good intentions.
