Tom: All these questions about my chinchilla, I was 5 years old, I dunno - he died. Of old age, I mean, we certainly didn’t treat him badly, it wasn’t animal cruelty or anything, if that’s what this person is insinuating. But no, it was random, my parents always had a chinchilla and I always thought it was a normal house pet to have, but now I’ve realized that having a chinchilla in your house is pretty rare. Um, it was soft though. It was very soft. Someone asked me once to describe it and all I could say is that it was a very very posh rat. Cause it is kind of a rat, but it has a lovely coat on.

Dan: It is a Tom Cruise moment. That was mine (the joke). It’s a totally anachronistic and wrong for the period but, I really didn’t care. It made me laugh in rehearsal. And Katie Holmes had since seen the show and actually commented and particularly liked that joke.

Although, I got really paranoid that night because she was in the audience and I did it and the audience reaction wasn’t nearly as much as it was used to be and I’m like, “Oh man, they all know that she’s here.” and they’re like, “Oh wow, this is really awkward.” No, but it was really good.
